Durrington Town Council Press Release April 2026

Durrington Town Council met on 28 April 2026 to conduct its annual governance and financial review and to consider several community matters and project updates.

Annual Governance & Accountability Return (AGAR) Completed

At the meeting, the Council: (full minutes available at Town Council Web Site)

· Accepted the March 2026 cheques, debits, and bank reconciliation.

· Approved the 2025/26 year‑end accounts.

· Reviewed the internal auditor’s report.

· Approved the Public Rights period.

Youth Activities Funding   
The Council approved £6,000 for a programme of sporting activities delivered by District Sports throughout the year.

Community Pass Scheme   
A one‑year trial of the Community Pass was approved, initially involving three organisations.

River Park Refurbishment
A quote for refurbishment works at River Park was approved.

Quote Evaluation Guidelines 
New guidelines for evaluating contractor quotes were approved

Pump Track Grant:
The Council noted a £19,999 National Lottery  Grant

Email System Resilience:
Following a recent email outage, councillors discussed options for emergency communication. The Clerk will establish an emergency‑only WhatsApp group to ensure continuity if email services fail.

SID (Speed Indicator Device) Policy & Staff Safety:
Concerns were raised about staff safety when working near roads or at height. The Clerk confirmed that staff receive appropriate training and safety equipment. It was agreed that: To hold a Health & Safety Audit and  SID procedures will be reviewed.
