Durrington Walking Group
What a delight it was to join the Durrington Walking Group on Tuesday 15th Sept at 11.00 starting at Durrington Swimming Pool.
This is where the group start and finish on Tuesdays and Fridays. They have Starter, Stroller and Strider sessions for all categories of walkers. We (that is all 20 of us) set off through The Ham and then on the footpath towards Milston where, at the Old Mill, we turned onto another footpath that took us on a delightful route to Bulford, through to Bulford Church and then a road walk back to Durrington Pool.
Whilst we walked, we chatted, laughed and just took in the beauty of Wiltshire as we strolled on our journey.
The entertainment didn’t finish there, there was tea/coffee and biscuits all for just 50p. During the chatting session that followed the refreshments, I learned that physical activity for many who attended, was vital for their long-term health, especially those who have had major health scares and were recovering from trauma.
I can recommend joining such a positive and welcoming group who come from as far as Shipton Bellinger, Pewsey and Salisbury to walk the Durrington Walking Routes.
Lastly, I sincerely pay tribute to the organisers of the Group who are all volunteers and take time out to please others.
If you are interested in trying out a walk or two then then why not give it a try; turn up any Tuesday and Friday 11am at Durrington Swimming Pool, stout footwear is a must.
The picture is of the group pausing to take in the beauty of the great scenery on the walk.
