Festival of Remembrance Salisbury Plain Royal Artillery Garrison Church, Larkhill Saturday, 8th November, 7pm
Band, Choirs, Bagpipes, Bugler and Silence.
Durrington Walls Wind Band are, again, leading their popular, annual Festival of Remembrance in the Royal Artillery Garrison Church of St Alban the Martyr and St Barbara which provides the perfect and proper setting for this event.
This year we especially remember that it was the 25th anniversary of VE Day and, in the first half of the evening we will have music which remind ourselves of life during the war periods, the horrors of wartime, and the bravery of those who saved lives. The band will be joined by Durrington Community Choir and the Choir of Durrington Junior School.
.
In the second half, as we approach the Act of Remembrance, we have the opportunity to remember the sacrifice of those who gave their lives in order that we could have the peace which we have enjoyed over the past 80 years. A Piper will lead us into this as he joins the Durrington Band to play Highland Cathedral, followed by a Lament. At the conclusion of the Act of Remembrance, all will stand to honour King Charles III with the National Anthem.
The evening will be a chance for all of us, who now live in a peaceful country, to give thanks for those who gave their lives so that this could be possible.
There will a Retiring Collection in aid of the Royal Artillery Charitable Fund. There will be Refreshments and Admission is Free
Please support this very special evening. More information from 01980 594650
