Larkhill Garrison open their doors to Our Community

A new initiative set up between Major Peter Magill of the Royal Artillery and Wiltshire Cllr Graham Wright proves to be a winner.

On 11th Sept an Invitation to tour Larkhill Garrison both inside and outside the wire was warmly accepted by Cllrs and residents of Durrington. The tour was a trial to gauge interest in setting up more regular events. It was received with thanks by the residents who had a guided tour of the Garrison together with tea and biscuits at the Sergeants Mess. Comments from the group were “I had no idea how large an area was inside the wire; the hi-tech simulation areas were most interesting; such a worthwhile event; it was great to be invited in and many thanks to Maj Paddy who we hear is a Legend at Larkhill” The event was a very well received and showed that there is true value in the Military and Civilian partnership.

Since this event, a second trip is planned for Students and teachers of Avon Valley Academy. Also, the invitation will be extended to any interested parties. If you are interested in joining a visit, call Cllr Graham Wright 07788849165 or e mail graham.wright@wiltshire.gov.uk
